Rising British rapper, Macca Wiles releases a riveting new single Outlined, the further fuses and blurs the cross-genre boundaries of trap and rock music.
It arrives alongside a gripping must-watch official video Directed by LA-based Jori Teplitzky (Steve Aoki, James Arthur, Cheat Codes). The melodic track is available to buy and stream via Locomotion Special Projects/Destined Productions/200.
Produced by Matt Schwartz (Yungblud, M.O., Massive Attack, Halsey) – ‘Outlined’ showcases Macca’s effortless ability to infuse the stylistic elements of rap, trap and rock to create a powerful, distinctive sound and style.
The self-written track highlights Wiles’ raw, distinctive rap flow and is lyrically influenced by his experience of being addicted to codeine and promethazine, battling his demons and seeking relief. On ‘Outlined’, Macca says: “We’re best at hurting ourselves, even when it doesn’t show.”
Directed by LA based Jori Teplitzky (Steve Aoki, James Arthur, Cheat Codes) – the epic video was filmed in the empty streets of London with just Macca and videographer, Duncan Smith (GQ, Tinie Tempah).
The skilfully shot visual offers another insight into the struggles Macca once went through. Teplitzky explains: “The video is about trying to run from something that is inevitable. Making this video was an interesting experience. Macca was in the UK and I was here in LA. He and I went back and forth about the look and how he wanted it to feel. He wanted something that felt eerie and almost uncomfortable so we talked about scenes and then built a shot list together remotely. It’s crazy to see how it all came together but I’m stoked on the final product.”
