Cardi B is making Bernie moves… and Killer Mike is happy about that. The Run The Jewels rapper has defended Cardi’s involvement in politics, after some haters suggested she had no place in it.
“I though it was a wonderful thing,” Killer Mike said this week. “You make a lot of money you don’t have to be politically engaged, so I’m proud of her.”
Both Mike and Cardi have shown to be Bernie supporters, but the latter’s backing was further highlighted recently when she interviewed the 77-year-old Vermont Senator at a Detroit nail salon.
They talked student debt, climate change and the minimum wage; and according to Mike, that makes her a target.
“People will come at you hard just because of your platform,” he said. “But I think she handles it with grace, I think she’s an honest voice from her perspective.
And as Americans, you gotta get used to disagreeing with people sometimes. You don’t have to agree with anybody to congratulate them on participating in the political process; I think that’s an admirable thing to do.”
He continued: “Fat Joe said year ago that ‘I can afford not to participate, but yet I do.’ And I really respected him for that… so shout out to Cardi.”
Mike also had a pointed message for anyone hating on Cardi: “Anyone who is criticizing her should be involved in their own elections locally; that way you have less time to criticize and more time to work on what’s going on around your s–t.”
Back in July, Cardi posted a teaser pic from the upcoming 2020 election campaign video, which was liked more than 3million times.
“Not me, US. Thank you Senator Bernie Sanders for sitting with me and sharing your plans on how you will change this country,” she wrote, adding that she had asked her 49 million followers for questions, and had selected the best of them.
“Stay tuned to see how he will fight for economic, racial, and social justice for all. Together, let’s build a movement of young people to transform this country,” she added. “LETS LEARN OUR CANDIDATES!”
Mike refused to write off a fundraising collaboration record between the two Berners. “That would be a dope record!” he admitted, “I would love to have Cardi cursing in Spanish on our record.”
He also urged voters to keep making small donations to local candidates. “That way it keeps big corporation dollars out of our electoral process,” he added.
