As allegations of sexual misconduct and assault mount, Russell Simmons seems to want to “Get the Hell out of Dodge,” as he has put several of his US properties up for sale, and staying in Bali, where he’s been spending a lot of time in as of late.
Among the properties he’s looking to unload include his $8.25 million Los Angeles home, his yoga studio, also in LA, and a $9.92 million penthouse in New York City’s Financial District. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Simmons has been spending a lot of time in Bali, a province of Indonesia.
What some think makes him staying there more interesting, is that Bali has no extradition treaty with the US, so he can’t be brought back to face any potential criminal charges on his recent string of sexual assault allegations. As it currently stands, Simmons has been accused by more than a dozen women of sexual misconduct and assault, dating back to the early 1980s.
After the initial accusers came forward, Simmons stepped down from his executive positions at All Def Digital, Def Pictures, and his yoga lifestyle brand, Tantris. In his statement regarding his mass resignations, Simmons said his companies would be run by a diverse group of culture-moving executives and that he would step away so that he can focus more on his, “personal growth, spiritual learning, and above all to listening.”
