Lil Wayne Reportedly Trying To Trademark The Name “New Dirty Bastard”

Lil Wayne has gone by many nicknames. Weezy, Tunechi, and Birdman Jr. among them. But it looks like he’s trying to add another nickname, and it’s a reference to The 36 Chambers.

The Blast reports that Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment recently applied to trademark New Dirty Bastard for use in record production, music production and many other entertainment related services. The name brings to mind deceased Wu-Tang Clan member Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

ODB’s daughter Taniqua Jones, as well as attorneys for estate were asked about this, and even though they were initially unaware of this, they are now looking into this, as they feel it would be easy to confuse whatever Young Money has in mind for the name, with her dad’s brand.

But it’s not all bad, as the estate is willing to work with YM, showing interest in speaking on an “artistic level before any other conversations take place.”
