First we saw SZA’s covers, now we get to see serpentwithfeet’s two covers for The FADER’s forthcoming Earth Issue. Check out his cover story here, and check out some excerpts below.
serpentwithfeet on his deeply personal debut full-length album:
I want it to feel like it was crafted by somebody. Im very tacky, very raggedy. I want people to feel that. Oh, you can tell he did that himself.
On the inspiration behind the album:
Different guys told me that I dig a lot. I dig and I dig and I dig. It made me think a lot about my mom, about the black women that raised me, and how they always had another question. You know what I mean? They always had another question.
Recent collaborator, Björk, on serpentwithfeets music:
He is, vocally, one of the most emotionally generous singers. I just find [his music] so moist and vibrant to listen to.
serpentwithfeet also released a new video titled bless ur heart, off his upcoming album soil.
