Frank Ocean’s is in a legal battle with a producer he used to work with, but according to Frank, is now now trying to take credit for his music. Mr. Ocean is suing Om’Mas Keith, whom Frank says he hired in 2014 to produce master recordings for his Blonde album. Unfortunately for Frank, he says Om’Mas is now trying to get co-writing credit on a bunch of those songs.
In docs, obtained by TMZ, Frank says Om’Mas registered with music publishing and royalty company ASCAP, claiming he co-wrote 11 songs, including standout tracks Pink + White, and Ivy.
Frank says all he hired Om’Mas for was to work on the master recordings, and even paid him a flat fee for his services, and is adamant that Om’Mas didn’t write the lyrics, melody or music.
He’s suing to get a judge to block Om’Mas from getting songwriting credits.
