Today, global fashion publisher i-D has unveiled Cardi B as the latest cover star for their Spring 2018 issue. Dubbed “The Radical Issue”, it’s a celebration of the visionaries changing culture from the inside out.
Enter Bronx rapper/personality, Cardi B. Photographs for the cover story, by Hattie Collins were shot by photographer Oliver Hadlee Pearch. In the interview, Cardi discusses with Hattie the importance of feminism, her first lap dance and riding a white horse through Manhattan.
“Being a feminist is real simple; it’s that a woman can do things the same as a man. I can finesse. I can hustle. We have the same freedom. I was in top of the charts. I’m a woman and I did that.” – Cardi B
The issue itself is guest edited by fashion critic Charlie Porter and celebrates the fascinating faces – old and young, familiar and new, and all visionary – who are at the frontlines of changing culture for the better. Crossing art, music, fashion and film, the new issue features the likes of Joan Jonas and Lubaina Himid, Paul Maheke, George Henry Longly, Rei Kawakubo, Grace Wales Bonner, and Andre Walker.
