Phoenix has been a really good city for us when it comes to The Whole 9. From RoQy TyRaiD, to Big T, the city has been more than hospitable when it comes to chopping it up with us. The latest to give us some of his time is Mr. Miranda. So check out the interview below, and for more on him, check him out on Facebook, Twitter and Reverbnation.
the9elements: You’ve taken a serious turn with your new single We Don’t Care. What inspired this new direction?
Mr. Miranda: Well, to be honest that’s the kind of music I normally make, I was stepping out of my comfort zone with No You Don’t by showing more of the fun side so doing this record wasn’t really difficult at all.
T9E: Where do you think you excel: in the studio or onstage? And why?
Mr. M: I believe on stage, mainly because that’s where fans can truly appreciate my talent, it’s all about that face time because you can do as many songs as possible but if you’re not a good performer then it’s not gonna allow you to excel because touring is where you make your most profit in this industry, so always gotta be on your A game
T9E: Are you planning to go to Ghana to collaborate with 3Kubebeats in person?
Mr. M: Yes I definitely am trying to make that happen, he advised me that Ghana isn’t really known for their hip hop scene much so we’d have to go up to West Africa to do shows because they get more traffic there. I really feel it’s important we link up tho because of the wonderful music we’ve been making together, it’s only right.
T9E: What would it take for you to sign a record deal?
Mr. M: It would have to be a really powerful situation for me to do that because deals aren’t the same as they were in the past, more artists are killing it by staying indie and having a continuous growing fan base who supports them and makes it possible to keep going and building the brand. We’ll see tho, I’m not 100% against it.
T9E: Do you think you gain the majority of your fans from performing or online activity? Why do you think this is?
Mr. M: They go hand in hand, we’re in a digital stage now so the net is very important and beneficial to one’s career in this day and age, people see or hear about you online first, then from following you they will travel to watch you perform. Then from performing you will be in more of a position to keep them around longer and continue to grow more and more.
