Courtni Webb, a High School in San Francisco has been suspended from school and may be expelled over a poem she wrote a poem about the recent Newtown massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 26 people died, including 20 children. “They want to hold me back……I understand the killings in Connecticut. I know why he pulled the trigger…. society won’t take the blame. We’re full of a society of haters and blamers”, is what she wrote.
Now even though I can see where people would be upset about those comments, I also respect that she has a right to write what she feels, which is protected by the 1st Amendment of our Constitution. The amendment is more about protecting the words we don’t necessarily agree with anything, and our society does play a role in most if not all shooting deaths in this country, where it’s easier to purchase a gun than get a job.
