If you’re an 80’s baby, you probably know the phrase “My word is my bond.” The phrase means that you’re a man or woman of your word and you keep your promises, but with that phrase there are a lot of people who just use the phrase for the sake of saying it and Jay-Z apparently is one of those people, at least in the eyes of Robert De Niro. More after the jump.
It all went down at Leonardo DiCaprio’s 38th birthday party which included celebs like De Niro, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Swizz Beatz, Chris Rock, Busta Rhymes, Kevin Connelly and Russell Simmons among others. De Niro who was promised a song from Hov for the TriBeCa Film Festival and never got that song, decided to make that the venue to address his issue with Jay, approaching him in a rage for failing to record a song for the and for failing to return his phone calls.
He said although he considers Jay-Z to be “the man” it was “just rude” of him to not follow through with his promise. Beyoncé apparently tried to defuse the situation between the two but to no avail as it was obvious that De Niro was not letting it go.
In an attempt to calm the crowd, DiCaprio took to the mic and cried in the tones of an angelic child: “I don’t like it when Mommy and Daddy fight!” Everyone hugged and the party kept going.
