For weeks now, rumors of Rasheed Wallace resurrecting his basketball career with the New York Knicks have been circulating, but the wait is now over as the Knicks have officially signed the 38-year-old unrestricted free-agent, who recently came out of retirement. WTF?!?!?!? More after the jump.
Sheed hasn’t played in an NBA game since April of 2010 during his stint with the Boston Celtics. Reports say he worked out for the Knicks and also had a physical earlier this week. Though the franchise is happy to have brought him aboard, his conditioning and stamina remain a focal point for the team.
It’s been said that Sheed decided to sign with the Knicks because of his existing relationship with New York’s head coach Mike Woodson. When Wallace was still a member of the Detroit Pistons, Woodson was an assistant coach with the team. Sources around the league say the Knicks are looking for Wallace to be positive and vocal, especially in the locker room area.
Details and the terms of Rasheed Wallace’s signing with the Knicks have not yet been disclosed.
