Jay-Z and Beyoncé showed their support for President Barack Obama by raising $4 million for his re-election campaign at an exclusive fundraising event last night at the 40/40 Club in NYC. More after the jump.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, people paid $40,000 a pop to mingle with the President and the superstar couple at Hov’s 40/40 Club. The glitzy event featured a tower of 350 Armand de Brignac champagne bottles.
“I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama,” said Beyoncé, who wore a red cocktail dress. “We believe in his vision.”
A grateful Obama thanked the Hip Hop power couple for their support. “To Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship,” he said, while joking, “Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they aren’t here.”
Obama also saluted the Roc Nation boss. “We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard but it’s OK,” he said.
