Wordsmith has been a busy man this year. From getting a song on the Madworld soundtrack to dropping a mixtape with Chubb Rock as well as an album, things are looking up for the Bmore MC. On top of those releases, he also did an album with UK rhymeslayer I.N.C. The Poet titled "A Baltimore Martini". Thanks to the homie Word, I was able to listen to their opus. Here's what I thought of it. So cop a squat at the bar, this one's on me.

Take A Walk In My Shoes - The production for this joint was cool. It had a real throwback feel to it. Wordsmith killed the 3rd verse. Good way to start an album. Rating: 7/10

Fast Lane - The production for this one reminds me of the previous song. I like how Wordsmith and I.N.C. played both sides of the hustler/righteous battle. The beat takes a way from the song however. Okay 2nd song. Rating: 7/10

On The Rocks - Production-wise, this song is official tissue. Really sets the mood for the content which centers around Words' brother passing and I.N.C. helping him deal with the grief with alcohol and real talk. Great song. Rating: 9.5/10

A Light In The Dark - Perfect production for this and Word really shines with his deep retrospective rhymes on this joint. I.N.C. did this thing too, but this song seemed tailor-made for Wordsmith and Kimia Collins who gave great vocals to the hook. One of my favorite songs of '09. Rating: 10/10

Funeral Confessions - Here's yet another flawless beat but unlike the previous track, this was made for both MC's to shine, and they did. I love the organ on this. The subject matter fits the production like a glove and Word def holds this done on the hook as well. Rating: 10/10

A Baltimore Martini - Another banger production-wise, but this time I.N.C. smashes this. Word does his thing two but I.N.C. set the table his verses as well as holding down the hook. Both MC's showed a lot of chemistry too. Rating: 9.75/10

De Ja Vu - Wasn't feeling this. Neither MC could kill this but to me, that had a lot to do with the very played out production on this. This seemed like a weak attempt at a party record which failed IMO. Throws off the album's cohesion too. Rating: 3/10

Seasons - AHHHHHH! This is more like it. Production is great and I.N.C. once again takes the lead on this one while Words takes the baton and takes this to the finish line. The song also fits the overall feel of the album. Rating: 9/10

Mellow - Another tailor-made I.N.C. beat and he doesn't disappoint. Word holds down the 2nd and 4th verses but I.N.C. kills this. The joint matches the name, very mellow and I Like it. Rating: 8.75/10

Til The Lights Out - This song speaks on how you shouldn't give up and both MC's nail that point home to a tee. The production was okay but both Word and I.N.C. carry the beat to the finish. Rating: 8.5/10

Bonus Track - Don't know the name of this joint but I love the drums on this and you get great efforts from both Word and I.N.C. Regardless of the name, this is a perfect way to end this album. Rating: 10/10

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

With all the collabos that have popping up lately, I think this album is definitely one of the better ones. Aside from an okay beginning and one misstep, this album was excellent. These two MC's displayed great chemistry and they displayed a quality that makes a great duos, the ability to know when the other needs to take the lead on a track. With as much ego that goes into emceeing, that's something a lot of duos fail to show.

But listening to this, it seemed like these two grew up together despite being from different side of the pond. So with all the collabos out there, I strongly recommend this for your listening pleasure. Trust me, you'll savor this album...like a Baltimore Martini.
